STATE OF THE STATE ADDRESS - NEW YORK'S FUTURE HINGES ON GOVERNMENT REFORM
“Each year, the governor of New York has the opportunity to use the State of the State address to set an agenda for the upcoming year. Now, more than ever, we need Governor Paterson to instill a sense of urgency in state government. This year must be a year of reform because Albany’s old ways have driven New York into the ground. Above all else, New York’s habits of taxing and spending need to change. The people of New York can’t afford their taxes, and the state can’t pay its bills because government has spent its way into debt.
Upstate economies are hurting, and investing in small business and infrastructure will help to create jobs in areas where they are desperately needed. The North Country’s economy as a whole cannot continue to struggle under the crushing burden of exorbitant property taxes. We need to put partisan politics aside and work for real, immediate reform of our state government.”
