SAYWARD LAUNCHES NEW "STOP GOVERNMENT WASTE" WEBSITE: STOPGOVERNMENTWASTENY.COM
Assemblywoman Teresa Sayward (R,I – Willsboro) today announced the launch of her Assembly Republican Conference’s website – www.stopgovernmentwasteny.com – that will help to prevent the loss of millions in taxpayer dollars by allowing taxpayers and state employees to report any waste of state funds.
The site seeks input from taxpayers and state employees who can anonymously report wasteful acts. Information garnered on the site will be compiled into reports to be publicized and submitted to the governor. Sayward and her colleagues will also seek non-partisan legislative remedies to ensure greater fiscal accountability and responsibility in state government.
The website, which is up as of today, includes:
Offering taxpayers and state employees an on-line mechanism to report known instances of state government waste directly on the website. Users have the ability to remain anonymous.
Listing of several recent examples uncovered by the media of state government waste, fraud and misuse of taxpayer dollars, and
Outlining how government waste leads to higher taxes, a strain on the delivery of essential public services and further erodes public confidence in state government and the men and women serving in it.
“The public’s trust of the state legislature is at an all-time low, and we must do all that we can to regain that trust,” said Sayward. “We were elected to represent the people of New York – to do what is right for the well-being of the state. This website will be a useful tool in helping us uncover fraud and to better serve the people of New York as we work to dig ourselves out of this financial crisis.”
